The first part of the course is dedicated to illustrate the general aspects of the bariatric surgery, its election criteria, the profile of the ideal candidate, the surgical peculiarities and the mechanisms of action which determine weight loss in morbidly obese patients. Then, the course focuses on Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass showing its technical aspects of execution and analysing its advantages/limitations. The second part of the course takes place in front of laparoscopic simulators, where thanks to special software, each participant has to reproduce some surgical steps of Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass.
